MEET AT SBGC Instruction Area at the Driving Range
Working on long and short components of golf skills
Putting mechanics- pendulum motion, quiet hands, eyes over the golf ball; “reading the green”, stroking vs hitting the putt; distance control
Chipping mechanics- partial swing rotation (half circle vs full, slow-motion movement, no hinge, hinge and hold, hinge and re-hinge)
Full Swing mechanics- Dynamic components (moving parts) of the golf swing; creating leverage- wrist hinge...lower body rotation (pivot)
Clubs: pitching wedge, 7 iron, (longer too...no hybrids or woods)
Every shot must have a purpose...shoot at targets
Evaluations of junior golf skills and abilities to determine group color (Red, White, & Blue). Coaches will select qualified White group juniors to participate with Blue groups on Wednesdays.
Typically take juniors out on the golf course once every 6-7 sessions to play golf. We review order of play; rules, etiquette (how to behave, politeness), penalty areas (lateral, sand, out of bounds)
